The Purple Drippers

FUN! has always been the keyword when The Purple Drippers take the stage and re-create the up-tempo style of rock'n'roll dance music created by great artists such as Eddie Cochran, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. Their song list is structured to give any audience tunes they can dance to and tunes that give them a chance to relax and get a bit of a laugh.

The Purple Drippers are a living archive of classic hidden treasures from the rockabilly scene in Australia and overseas. The attraction of a big white double bass and three cats in snappy suits is timeless but when The Purple Drippers start playing most people can see that this is not a costume act. The passion and attention to detail that they bring to their music is what makes them true musicians and their enthusiasm is infectious.

The band has been together for 18 years and 6 years in its present line-up, playing gigs from the Northern Rivers area of NSW to the Sunshine coast in Queensland, Australia and beyond and have a large following with Rock n’ Roll dancers from far and wide. They have played countless gigs in the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, and their original song “Next Boat Out” is almost an anthem among the staff on Hamilton Island.

This year has seen the band exciting audiences at the Wintersun Rockabilly Festival in Coolangatta(Australia’s biggest) and the Gympie Muster  www.muster.com.au/byday   where they were joined by boogie woogie piano player Doctor Baz.
